To ensure long life of the boat and provision of all your requirements during water travel, please read carefully the Operating Manual below.

 

The Grouper inflatable motor boat was designed conforming to the Main Principles of the International Standard .ISO-6185 «Inflatable boats made of plastomeres and elastomeres». TU 2567-001-58854184-2014 and GOST 21292-89. onformity Declaration of Russian Gosstandart.

РThe manual features requiements to boat maintenance, its operation and describes the procedure for fault removal.

1. Purpose and operation.

The grouper boat is designed to transport people and small loads across the water. It can be operated both using paddles and by an outboard motor, in small coastal areas and interior waters. The boat should not be transported when inflated in trailers or open car trunks.

4. Description.

In manufacturing the boat, imported armoured PCV is used conforming to the international quality standard EN ISO 9001/2000.

The inflatable boat is built around a U-shaped tube, with a transom installed on it made of waterresistant plywood.

To ensure maximum travelling safety the tube is divided into three independent compartments by elastic airproof membranes.

Every ciompartment has an individual valve to let the air in and out.

Passengers are accomodated on two movable seats made of water-resistant plywood. Their movability along the tube is ensured by the boltrope-mast track system. It consists of an elastic profile installed on the tube and a rigid pad located on the bottom part of the seat.

The warranty term for the boat exploitation is 24 months from the purchase date, which should be stamped in the boat passport.

The warranty term for other parts of the boat including the paddles, rowlocks, inflatable poofs, pump, air valves, PVC fittings, bow tent, transformer tent, soft pads, fitting bag, and packing bag is 12 months.

The warranty covers only the defects discovered in the exploitation process concerned with the material, component parts and boat assembly (inside joints, outside bands, fitting , bottom and transom installation).

5. The warranty does not cover common wear and tear, abrasions and damage caused by:

— failing to observe the operation, transportation and storage rules listed in the present Manual;

— accidents;

— errors and failing to observe the Rules for steering small craft;

— use of auxiliary device or component, which has not been manufactured, installed or sold by Grouper-Spb Company;

— modification or deletion of the original boat device or component;

— transportation of an inflated boat on a trailer or in an open car trunk.

The warranty costs do not cover:

— cost of towing or transporting the boat from the place where the defect or any other damage was discovered to the home harbor of the vessel;

— costs of negotiations conducted by phone or e-mail service;

— compensation of costs, inconveniences and time spent.

To determine the cause of the defect, it is necessary to bring the boat or the component to the Grouper-SPb premises.

In case the discovered defect falls under the manufacturer's warranty liabilities described above, it will be eliminated at the expense of the manufacturer. In other cases all the costs are paid by the boat owner.

It is prohibited to use any other compressed air sources but the ones designed especially for inflating PVC boats.

— At all times when the boat is out of water under direct sunlight it is absolutely necessary to lower the pressure in the air proof boat sections by 30 to 50% from the nominal pressure. When the boat is launched, the pressure should be restored to the recommended values. «Under-inflated» boat will not perform up to the mark.

— When paddles are taken out of rowlocks, it is necessary to screw up the paddle clamp — the cover nut — in the rowlock, so as not to damage the boat material with the rowlock pin when folding the boat.

6. Maintenance requires strict all-time observation of the rules listed in the Manual.

In addition, consider the following:

— After having used the boat, it is necessary to remove all dirt from the PVC surface, wash the interior and exterior surfaces and dry the boat.

— Oil, petrol and other similar stains should be removed with soapy water.

To prevent polluting the water reservoir with washing liquids containing surfactants, avoid using them for washing your boat in places lacking sewage system!

— Out of season, it is advisable to periodically examine the boat in order to reveal the possible defects, which may have appeared during the operation period.

— It is not advisable to use acetone for washing the boat because of its strong tanning effect on PVC materials.

Minor repair work can be done on your own.

For this purpose, use the repair kit:

— take the contents out of the container

— cut the necessary patch out of the material contained in the repair kit, with the patch overlapping the hole edges by 15-25 mm

— on the boat hull, mark the outline of the future patch

— remove the fat from the surface where the glue will be applied, using any substance at hand (soap solutions will suit well, with further drying, as well as chemical solvents such as alcohol or toluene)

— apply the glue from the kit in an even layer to both surfaces to be connected and leave it for 5-10 minutes to dry, at the ambient temperature over 15?C.

— further, put the patch over the marked out area and press it down to the boat shell, smoothing it out on the surface. Then put the damaged part on some even surface (boat seat) and forcefully smooth out the patch with any instrument at hand (e.g., back side of a knife) to eliminate any air bubbles that could have remained under the connected surfaces.

— leave the patch to dry for 2-3 hours and you can use the boat again.

Notably, such minor repair work will allow further operation of the oat. However, in order to carry out quality repair work, the boat should be submitted for expert diagnosis!

What should be avoided during boat operation:

— letting water get into the tubes or boat bottom.

— letting sand or dirt get into the valve, which can destroy it.

7. Boat storage.

The boat should be stored in the original pscksging, in a closed space, within the temperature range from–30о С до +40о С.

The stored boat should be protected from direct sunlight and remain at minimum one meter distance from any heating equipment.

In case the boat is stiored under temperatures below zero, it should be kept at the temperature of minimum +10о С and maximum +40о С for an hour before unpacking.

8. Safety rules for boat operation.

The boat is designed for water travel at wave height of less than 0.5 meters

When the paddling option is used, the following rules should be observed:

— the crew members should all wear individual life-saving equipment;

— the boat should be equipped with anchor and mooring arrangement (anchor and anchor rope, mooring line);

— the passengers and the load should be evenly distributed across the cockpit, to avoid any excessive trim.

 

When using the motor option, the following rules should be observed:

— complement the boat in full accordance with the record in the vessel's certificate

before sailing, make sure that the main vessel equipment is present, readily available and safely fastened on the boat:

— anchors with anchor ropes, motor with reversion, petrol tank, paddles, pump, repair kit, mooring line and life-saving equipment;

— putting life jackets on all crew members;

— evenly distribute the load and passengers across the cockpit; the load should not move around the boat constraining the movement of the people in the boat;

— for all the navigation equipment and means of communication available on board, there should be adequate power supply with extra reserve or an opportunity to recharge on board;

— register in the mobile phone the emergency service number;

— inform the relatives, friends or acquaintances about the time and place of your departure, the route and the travel time, as well as the supposed time and place of your arrival. Ask them, if possible, to inform you about the storm warnings and weather changes;

— have on board the necessary vessel's papers and the driving license;

— observe the requirements listed in the vessel's certificate concerning the passenger and loading capacity for the region and navigation conditions without exceeding the permissible motor capacity.

When driving the boat , it is prohibited:

— to take in alcohol and other drugs, in accordance with existing Law;

Remember also you should never:

— exceed the pressure parameters in the hermetically sealed tubes;

— drag the boat across hard, abrasive surfaces.

 

9. Warranty obligations

The manufacturer guarantees conformity of the product to the requirements of TU 2567-001-58854184-2014 on condition that the the corresponding operation, transportation and storage rules are observed.

Disassemblable aluminum paddles are mounted on special rowlocks and are to be fixed with covered nuts. When traveling, the paddles are additionally fixed with latches cast from PVC.

All additional fittings mounted on the tube including guard rails and handles for carrying the boat (classic model) are also cast of PVC.

The guard rail is designed to hold passengers while the boat is moving. It can also be used for additional fastening of cargo in the boat.

The passengers can also hold on to the handles in the cockpit.

There is an eye ring installed in the bow of the boat made of polyamide armored with fiberglass, which is designed for carrying the boat over land, anchoring and towing it.

 

10. Preparation for operation :

1. Unpack the boat.

2. Unfold the boat in an open space.

3. Open the valves and switch them into the Close position. When the valve is closed, the valve rod on Open the Valve will stick out to the maximum, the central rod axis slightly rising over the rest of the valve.

4. Join together the foot pump, the hose and the tube tip adapter. (if you are using an electric pump, the adapter should be selected from the pump kit).

5. First the side compartments of the tube are inflated until the adequate pressure is reached, followed by the bow compartment. If there are obvious signs of stricture at the separating membranes, the pressure in different compartments should be leveled off. Finally, the bottom part is inflated until the pressure reaches the recommended values.

6. Join together the foot pump, the hose and the tube tip adapter. (if you are using an electric pump, the adapter should be selected from the pump kit).

7. Mount the seats in their places on the bolt rope.

8. Assemble the paddles and install them in the rowlocks. Fasten the cover nuts on rowlock rods. Fix the paddles in special latches on the tubes.

9. The boat is disassembled in the reverse order.

 

Please note:

— in order to facilitate the folding of the boat and achieve the minimum package size, the remaining air should be removed from the sealed compartments using the pump.

— the nominal pressure in the tube should be 0.28 kg/cm2., and in the bottom — 0.3 kg/cm2. When this pressure is reached, further pumping will become difficult.
